April 26, 2024 — Cleveland State Community College partners with Tennova Healthcare - Cleveland to provide training and clinical hours for student nurses. Griffin and Hardaway Named Commencement Speakers

April 24, 2024 — Cleveland State Community College will conduct two commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 3, 2024. The 10 a.m. ceremony will honor graduates in the Business and Healthcare programs. The 2 p.m. ceremony will honor graduates in the Advanced Technologies, Arts and Humanities, Education, Social Sciences, STEM and Tennessee Valley Early College programs. Jonathan Cantrell – Student Athlete to Trustee

April 23, 2024 — Born and raised in Bradley County, Jonathan Cantrell grew up riding earthmoving and paving equipment with his grandfather and going to Cleveland State Community College basketball games with his father. Now the President of Caldwell Paving, Cantrell has been a Cleveland State student athlete, alumnus, contributor, contractor and trustee. Dr. Andy White - Cleveland State's 8th President

April 17, 2024 — Cleveland State Community College welcomed Dr. Andy White as the eighth president of the college earlier this month. White served 20 years in the United States Air Force then worked for the University of Tennessee, Volunteer State Community College and Belmont University. Social Work Faculty Spotlight – Jana Pankey

April 10, 2024 — She grew up less than a mile from Cleveland State Community College, riding her bicycle on the tennis courts and going to basketball games with her father. Later, she became the first medical social worker and youngest department head at Cleveland Community Hospital. Wishing on a Star - Choral Concert

April 09, 2024 — Cleveland State Community College invites the community to the spring concert, Wishing on a Star, performed by the Vocal Rhapsody Choir and friends on Friday, April 19, 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the George R. First Generation Student – Freny Lopez

April 02, 2024 — At the age of 23, Freny Lopez became the first person in her family to graduate high school. A year later, she enrolled at Cleveland State Community College as a Tennessee Reconnect student. Now a nursing major, Lopez plans to graduate in May 2025 and become a pediatric nurse. Social Work Student Spotlight – Emily Henry

March 12, 2024 — Meigs County native, Emily Henry, is a full-time student majoring in social work. She will graduate in May and transfer to Tennessee Wesleyan University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in social work. Her goal is to work for a non-profit organization or a local school system. Curiosity and Solutions – An Engineer’s Journey

March 11, 2024 — A chemical engineer, process engineer, development engineer and manufacturing engineer, Mary Cole, an adjunct instructor at Cleveland State Community College, loves to make things, solve problems and learn new skills. According to Cole, the two most important qualities of a good engineer are “an insatiable curiosity and the ability to problem solve on the fly. Entrepreneurship Event - Student and Community Pitch Winners

March 06, 2024 — The George R. Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Cleveland State Community College recently hosted an Entrepreneurship Event that included student and community pitch competitions as well as a vendor expo with local businesses. The two-day event was sponsored by the Lynn Jones Foundation, the Cleveland Bradley Business Incubator and the Small Business Development Center. Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Named REACH Chapter

March 06, 2024 — The Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter at Cleveland State Community College has been named a 2023 REACH Chapter by the national Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. The recognition celebrates and rewards PTK chapters excelling in membership engagement by achieving exceptionally high rates of membership acceptance in the 2023 calendar year. Nicholas McCarthy Inspires the Cleveland State Community

February 28, 2024 — Cleveland State Community College Foundation recently hosted An Evening with Nicholas McCarthy. Presented by the Bank of Cleveland, 125 community members attended the event and raised $70,000 for the Foundation which provides support for the college and hundreds of scholarships to students each year. New Equipment for Plumbing Programs

February 26, 2024 — Cleveland State Community College recently partnered with City Fields and Wholesale Supply Group Inc. to purchase $36,000 of plumbing equipment that will be used for training in the new Workforce Plumbing Bootcamp and the academic Principles in Plumbing course. February 20, 2024 — Cleveland State Community College will host the 20th annual Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss Celebration on Saturday, March 2. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Cleveland State’s Library and is sponsored by the Early Childhood Education (ECED) program and the CSCC Library. Curtain Call Society Performs Long Live Love

February 19, 2024 — The Curtain Call Society at Cleveland State Community College will present the theater production of Long Live Love by Don Zolidis on March 22, 23, 29 and 30 at 7:00 p.m. and March 24 at 2:30 p.m. in the George R. Veteran Couple – Students at Cleveland State

February 13, 2024 — Tylicia and Brian Wright met while serving in the United States Navy and married four months later. Jason Byrne’s Journey of Education and Purpose

January 29, 2024 — With a desire to learn how the brain works and why people are all different, Jason Byrnes, returned to college in his 30s and graduated with a degree in social work at Cleveland State Community College. Sandra Godsey – From Student to Dean

January 22, 2024 — Before she even graduated high school, Sandra Godsey, spent her summers working in the career planning and placement center at Cleveland State Community College while her mother took classes. More than 20 years later, Godsey has been named the Dean of Business and Health Professions at the college – a position she never thought possible when she was a teenager.
