Curtain Call Society Performs Long Live Love

CLEVELAND, TN – The Curtain Call Society at Cleveland State Community College will present the theater production of Long Live Love by Don Zolidis on March 22, 23, 29 and 30 at 7:00 p.m. and March 24 at 2:30 p.m. in the George R. Johnson Cultural Heritage Center at Cleveland State. Admission is free to everyone for these performances.

Directed by Holly Shiveley, Cleveland State Associate Professor of Communications, this brand-new play is the story about a group of actors hours away from their opening performance of Long Live Love, a drawing room comedy. Chaos ensues as the marital strife of the playwrights, George Harold and Marjorie Bright, leads to conflicting script revisions, leaving the actors scrambling to salvage the show amidst a backdrop of romantic farce and behind-the-scenes drama.

“As Cleveland State will be the first theater group to perform this play, I’m incredibly excited about this opportunity for us, the cast and audience, to be pioneers in this way because what we do here could affect what other groups choose to do in the future,” said Shiveley. “This show also includes some surprising elements such as long-lost children, mistaken identities, and sword fights as these characters work to come to a successful resolution.” According to Mr. Nigel Southworth’s preview of Harold and Bright’s play, “Long Live Love may not have weighty matters on its mind, but it certainly shows us that love is not dead – in fact, it’s very much alive – and EFFERVESCENT!”
