What is Business Administration A.S.?

The Associate of Science in Business Administration is designed as a guide for students who plan to transfer and earn a Bachelor of Science degrees at other colleges and universities.  This program emphasizes financial and managerial accounting, microeconomics and macroeconomics at this level.

For students wishing to study business but who do not plan to continue for bachelor's degrees, the Associate of Applied Science degree is available. 

 

 

What will I learn?

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to do the following:

  1. Explain the role of accounting in business and how accounting information systems are used to gather, summarize, report, and analyze financial data.
  2. Perform the steps in the accounting cycle, complying with generally accepted accounting principles.
  3. Determine the application, interpretation, and financial statement effect of specific accounting methods and procedures.
  4. Analyze and interpret financial statements and demonstrate an understanding of managerial accounting concepts and calculations.
  5. Analyze and evaluate structures and processes of diverse macroeconomic and microeconomic systems using a variety of basic economic tools and measurements.
  6. Demonstrate an understanding of how economic and political activity influences the behavior of individuals and groups and how, in turn, they influence economic and political activity.
  7. Examine the economic theories and research that have formed the basis of microeconomic and macroeconomic policies for two centuries.

What are my options to pay for this degree?

  • Apply for financial aid at www.FAFSA.gov
  • A student is encouraged to apply early for financial aid. He/she must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the FAFSA Renewal Application as soon as possible after October 1 to ensure that the Financial Aid Office receives the Institutional Student Information Record and other documents prior to the priority deadline. July 1st is the priority deadline for applying for the fall semester and December 1st for the spring semester.

  • Successful completion of ACCT 1010 required for progression to ACCT 1020. A grade of C or higher is highly recommended.
  • Successful completion of learning support required or two years of high school algebra for MATH 1530
  • Cooperative Education and Service-Learning Experiences are great ways to gain hands-on experience in your career field and make sure your selected career is a good fit for you.
