Dr. John Squires Chosen as Executive Director for Advancement and Planning at CSCC

A long-time faculty member of Cleveland State Community College who recently returned as the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness is now expanding his role. Dr. John Squires has recently  accepted the role as the new Executive Director for Advancement and Planning for CSCC. 

“Dr. Squires has a broad set of skills and talents,” stated Dr. Bill Seymour, CSCC President. “Plus, he has the knowledge and contacts that come from living in this community for over 30 years. With his background in teaching, administration, program development, and grant writing he was the perfect choice to provide supervision for our Advancement programs in addition to his work in research and planning.”

Squires has a Ph.D. in Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands, a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Drake University, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Iowa State University. 

He started his career at CSCC over 30 years ago. He served as the Mathematics Department Chair for 19 years at the college, helping them win nationally recognized awards like the Bellwether Award. Earlier this year, he started his initial role as Executive Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. Now, adding the new title of Executive Director for Advancement and Planning, he will supervise both departments under his leadership. 

“I’m excited about this opportunity, and I look forward to working under Dr. Seymour's leadership to enhance the college's efforts,” stated Squires. “The community first vision put forth by Dr. Seymour embraces the college's mission to make a difference in people's lives in this region. I'm enthusiastic about helping make that vision a reality.”
