CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Cleveland State Community College Wildlife Society is hosting Conservation Day following by a Wild Game Dinner on Saturday, April 7. Conservation Day will be from noon until 5 p.m. with activities and information from 20 different vendors set up in the front parking lot on the main campus. Some of the vendors include Safari Club International, Ritchie Tractor, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, United States Forestry Service, Tennessee Division of Forestry, City of Cleveland Forestry, Keep America Beautiful, Master Gardeners, Southeast Co-op, TVA, and Land Trust of Tennessee.

CSCC’s Annual Wild Game Dinner will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the George R. Johnson Cultural Heritage Center with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Any money raised from this dinner will go to fund activities for the Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society.

“The proceeds from this game dinner will be used to support Wildlife Society activities,” stated Robert Brewer, Associate Professor of Biology / Wildlife Society Advisor. “As the wildlife program grows, mores supplies for research and the classroom will be needed. The Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society hopes to ease the burden on the college by purchasing some of those supplies through fundraisers like this.”

“The Wildlife Society will have a variety of game dishes including deer, bear, elk, pronghorn sheet cooked into chilis and stews by our award-winning cook and commander in chief Robert Brewer, and whatever else the students cook up,” stated Jenny Paul, Instructor of Biology / Wildlife Society Co-Advisor. “We are raising funds for undergraduate research projects and student travel. We have one of the most active student chapters in the country, and were recently recognized internationally for logging over 1000 volunteer hours since last May…and the year isn’t over yet!”

There will be door prizes and a silent auction during the dinner.  For more information on the wild game dinner, contact Paul at 423-592-0570 or email vcnrc@clevelandstatecc.edu.
